Vertical Door Conversion Kits are the hottest new trend in the Import tuining and aftermarket modification scene. These Lambo style door kits replace the factory door hinges with a new pivotal hinge that allows the doors to open outwards then up in a similar fashion to the stock doors on high end Lamborghini exotic sports cars.

Each Vertical Door Conversion kit (VDC) includes two pivotal door hinges, wiring harnesses, instructions, gas shocks and can be done by most body shops or performance shops with relative ease. Average installation time is about 2 hours for a shop that has performed the installation before, and about 3-5 hours for an inexperienced installer to do. Nearly all of the vertical door kits are a bolt on application requiring no modification, however some applications may require the installer to roll the inner lining of the fenders to accompany the hinge if it is a tight fit.

For larger SUV and Trucks such as the Hummer H2 and Ford Expedition, the factory door hinges are welded on and may need to be cut out, then replaced with the aftermarket door hinge. Most of these applications require welding the door kit back on to the car for stability.

HOW THE VERTICAL DOOR KIT FUNCTIONS:

When inside you will grab the door handle of the car. Pulling the door toward you the door will open 12 - 18 inches like they do normally. From there the door will stop and not open horizontally any further. Once done you will now grab the bottom of the door and lift vertically. The door will then reach a certain point which it will not lift anymore. At this point you will be able to get in and out of the vehicle. In normal case the bottom back portion of the door will be higher than the roof of the vehicle.

Tips:

  • Do not take Door off during installation Please follow the detailed instruction manual step by step
  • We suggest you create a L Bracket during installation process
  • Make sure the mounting surface is flat as possible, if anything is there, grind the surface so the vertical door kit can sit and mount flat.
  • Make sure both allen screw adjustment on each system are adjusted accordingly.
  • Do not cut the wire extension that come with the kit. All wire extension are 14 inches.
  • The kit requires no modification, the kit is a bolt on, but MOST INNER FENDERS MUST BE ROLLED
