Honda Prelude Vertical Door Kit Product Guide:

These Lambo style door kits replace the factory door hinges with a new pivotal hinge that allows the doors to open outwards then up in a similar fashion to the stock doors on high end Lamborghini exotic sports cars.
Each Honda Prelude Vertical Door Conversion kit (VDC) includes two pivotal door hinges, wiring harnesses, instructions, gas shocks and can be done by most body shops or performance shops with relative ease. Average installation time is about 2 hours for a shop that has performed the installation before, and about 3-5 hours for an inexperienced installer to do. Nearly all of the vertical door kits are a bolt on application requiring no modification, however some applications may require the installer to roll the inner lining of the fenders to accompany the hinge if it is a tight fit.
HOW THE HONDA PRELUDE VERTICAL DOOR KIT FUNCTIONS:
When inside you will
grab the door handle of the car. Pulling the door toward you the door will
open 12 - 18 inches like they do normally. From there the door will stop
and not open horizontally any further. Once done you will now grab the bottom
of the door and lift vertically. The door will then reach a certain point
which it will not lift anymore. At this point you will be able to get in
and out of the vehicle. In normal case the bottom back portion of the door
will be higher than the roof of the vehicle.
When outside you will
grab the door handle of the car. Pulling the door toward you the door will
open 12 - 18 inches like they do normally. From there the door will stop
and not open horizontally any further. Once done you will now grab the edge
of the door and lift vertically. The door will then reach a pre-determined
point at which it will not lift anymore. At this point you will be able
to get in and out of the vehicle. In normal case the bottom back portion
of the door will be higher than the roof of the vehicle.
