The Volkswagen Jetta is the sedan version of the compact car / small family car Volkswagen Golf, manufactured by Volkswagen since 1980. Between 1991 and 2005, the name was only used in North America and South Africa, as it was dropped in Europe in 1991, when it was replaced by the Vento, which was in turn replaced by the Bora in 1998. The Jetta was developed due in part of the Volkswagen marketing group's observation that the North American market leaned more towards sedans as opposed to the Golf's hatchback configuration. Similarly, in South Africa, the Jetta remains more popular than the Golf. This proved to be a wise move on Volkswagen's part, as the Jetta became the best-selling European car in the United States. The mechanicals are shared with the other Volkswagen A platform cars. Currently, its marketing phrase in the US is "Safe happens". OUR FAVORITE BODY KITS FOR THE VOLKSWAGEN JETTA: Our first pic for the Volkswagen Jetta would have to be the J Spec Urethane Body Kit. The J Spec kit is a four peice complete body kit that includes the front bumper, rear bumper and right and left sideskirts. The J Spec is designed and manufactured by Wings West (VIS Racing urethane line). The J Spec kit is one of two Polyurethane kits made by Wings West for the Volkswagen Jetta IV, the other one being the Widebody J Spec kit for the same car which includes door caps and fender flares. The J Spec kit is a stylish and contemporary design that is both race aggressive but not too overbearing. The J Spec urethane Jetta body kits are built to order and usually take about a week to complete. Our second pic for the Volkswagen Jetta would have to be the OTG body kit, which is a US version of the popular European Ottinger body kit. Due to costs of importing any european kit, VIS racing has done a good job at creating quality replicas of thier overseas counterparts. Tips: Before you purchase your body kit or during shipping time, it is a good idea to make sure that you have a qualified installer for your body kit. If you are purchasing a fiberglass kit, it is especially important to find one that can specifically deal with the alterations that may be required to fit your kit correctly. Fiberglass kits in general need some finishing work during installation, such as sanding, primering, filling pinholes/gaps, trimming or shaving. Many times, our customers are charged more than they should if they use a shop who is not familiar with altering fiberglass because of the additional time involved. Also be sure that whoever is recieving the kit inspects the contents of the box before they sign for it. Although most shipments are recieved undamaged, it is possible that your shipment may be. Because we are not in control of the freight company and thier policies, you must inspect the kit before you sign for it and if it is damaged either refuse the kit and note it on the delivery invoice so that we can file a claim for you.
