Subaru WRX Carbon Fiber Hoods

Subaru has been the dominant force in the emerging "All Wheel Drive" market, but we never expected Subaru to take such a large part of the import tuning market with its 2002 release of the Subaru WRX. Subaru instantly took the spotlight and garnered a following, then uped the ante again in 2004 with the release of an even more powerful and stylish Subaru WRX STI. With it being such a hit in the import tuning market, several companies have been pressed to produce exterior styling accessories to compliment this already stunning vehicle. High end carbon fiber accessory manufacturers such as VIS Racing, Siebon, Carbon Creations and NIN Autosports have been able to offer a wide variety of carbon fiber products for the 350Z.

In early 2004 while working with Yakuza Racing in Salt Lake City, a young Subaru WRX owner came into the shop with a Turbo magazine in his hand. The young gentleman did not speak english but opened the magazine and pointed to a modified blue WRX with one of the most gorgeous carbon fiber hoods that I have ever seen. He wanted us to find the hood for him and didnt care what the cost would be to him.

It took me a day or two to find out where the products on the pic were from (can you imagine that they didnt even say in the article..). The body kit was the new at the time Charge Speed lip kit, and the hood was the new Seibon CW hood, an agresssive and stylish carbon fiber hood with induction vents on both sides of the hood. This makes for an excellent hood for the turbo'd Impreza, WRX and STI models, and even better is the fact that the hood is availible for all three cars.

When the hood finally came in we were all shocked, in a good way. The hood was a peice of art and the glossy finish blew us away. In the photos this hood looked good but in person it was even better. That same weekend I coincidentally saw my client on the road twice and marvelled at the glimmer of the hood in the sun. The seibon gave off a slightly goldish hue under the sunlight.

We were to say the least very impressed with Seibon and its dedication to providing top tuning carbon fiber hoods and accessories for the WRX. They have 3 new carbon fiber lip spoilers for the Impreza, plus one for the WRX and STI. They also have an all carbon fiber rear spoiler wing that is strikingly handsome. Pair those with the VIS Carbon fiber trunk and your in Subaru heaven.

Seibon first came into the public eye when it released the CW carbon fiber hood for the Subaru WRX, and since has dominated manufacuring high end carbon fiber components for the top Japanese tuning cars. While thier competitor VIS Racing as dominated the general market, this niche specialization has lead Seibon to revamp thier strategy for the more common tuning cars. While seibon used to offer replicas of VIS's common hoods, Seibon in 2004 redesigned virtually all of their common stock hoods with fresh and cutting edge designs.
